KASHS

Knaresborough Allotments Self Help Scheme

General Info

As a community allotment, KASHS is a charitable organisation, renting the ground from Harrogate Borough Council.
The site has had allotments for many years, providing an environment to grow and nurture, not just your own fruit and vegetables but your peace of mind and wellbeing.
It's a well known fact that exercise is good for you and, as we get a little older, strength training becomes more beneficial for a healthy life. Let's face it, digging a plot is strong work!

Where are we?

The entrance to the allotment site can be seen to the left of the allotments, situated next to Robert Aagaard and Company, over the railway bridge. There's a large gate and a car parking area directly through this, on the right.

If you plan on visiting the site, please contact us beforehand and a member of the committee will be in touch.

Opposite is a map of where we are, give the image a click to open in Google Maps for better detail.

What do we do?

Besides growing our own fruit and vegetables, we have an active community of like-minded people that are happy to share the vast knowlege of growing produce. We have a sharing point for excess seeds, plants or whatever is useful (and allotment related!)
We gather a few times a year for social events, including bonfire evenings, FEVA and hopefully the occassional pizza, now the oven has been built!.
The committee meets regularly and a team of members gather on Fridays to build, mend and generally improve the site for all.
