An extraordinary committee meeting has been held to understand how best to preserve our resources and to keep our running costs at a manageable level.
After discussion, we have decided to apply a temporary hosepipe ban. We didn't take this decision lightly, and it was the result of a long debate between all committee members. A lot of allotments in the area already ban the use of hosepipes, and the Hawthorns and Jubilee sites do not even have taps.
We are very aware that this will impact some members with disabilities, and we are keen to support anyone who has difficulty using a watering can. If this is the case for you, please approach either Rob Snow, Kirsty Woodford or Maggie Boyd to see what measures can be taken to overcome these challenges during the hosepipe ban.
There is a range of measures we can take to save water, in the longer term, which we will discuss at our next committee meeting in September, then feed back to members.
